A Message From CVIM’S Executive Director

You may be wondering how we are doing at CVIM during the COVID-19 pandemic. I wanted to take this opportunity to share with you some things we are doing in the clinic.

We are continuing to care for our patients as best we can. We have begun using telemedicine to see medical and behavioral health patients and even using it to screen dental emergencies. We are extremely cautious when patients do need to come to the clinic, which so far, thankfully, has been rare.

We are dispensing three months of medications so patients don’t need to return every 30 days and we deliver medications curbside. Staff are working from home, when possible, and we limit the number of staff in the building at any given time. All staff in the building must now wear procedures masks when working in the clinic. Unfortunately, volunteers, except for healthcare providers, are not permitted in the clinic.

We have recently seen an uptick in new patients calling for services. As people lose their jobs due to the crisis, they often also lose their health insurance. Our behavioral health team have seen an increase in the number of patients calling with concerns regarding depression and anxiety. This too is attributed to what is currently happening across the nation.

The CVIM staff has been amazing. They are dedicated and resourceful… willing to do whatever it takes to continue to provide quality healthcare to our patients.

What can YOU do to help? Many have reached out offering support. Sewing groups have been making and donating masks for staff. Several have provided lunches and snacks for staff. Many continue to donate on our website during our spring Dental Campaign. Donations are needed now, more than ever as our expenses increase with our increase in patients.
