CVIM Flagship Events
Battle of the Minds
In 2007, the State College Rotary Club combined with CVIM on the Thanks for Giving fundraiser to benefit CVIM. This led to the “Battle of the Minds“, our signature annual event. Normally, this event includes a formal dinner followed by a professionally-produced trivia game with questions such as “What is TV’s most frequent Final Jeopardy category question?” and “How many prescriptions did CVIM write over the past year?”
Because of the need for social distancing this year, the 13th annual Battle of the Minds was an online streaming event. Our guest emcee Jeff Brown and Director of Development, Monica Wright provided our guests with an interactive and entertaining evening of trivia. While we missed the live event that averages 370 attendees at tables of 10 competing for the win, the virtual event allowed smaller groups or individuals to play from the comfort of their own homes. Whether we are at the Penn Stater or at home, next year’s event will be held on Wednesday, October 13, 2021.
If you are interested in learning more about how you can become a sponsor for next year’s event, please contact Monica at email@example.com. For more information about how to attend next year’s event, contact Katie at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Centre County Cornhole Classic
Registration and sponsorship opportunities are now open for the Centre County Cornhole Classis. Also known as “Corn Toss” and “Bean Bag Toss,” Cornhole is similar to horseshoes, except wooden boxes (cornhole platforms) and corn bags are used. The tournament is open to all ages and skill levels. The Cornhole Classic is presented by SilicoTek Corporation and this year will be held at the University Wine Company, 540 Misty Hill Drive, State College (off of Rt 45).
Central Cycling Classic Challenge
In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, the organizers of the 2020 Central Cycling Classic developed the idea of a virtual event in which cyclists challenged themselves to ride every day or to ride a certain mileage. Thanks to all the participants and their supporters who helped us reach the fundraising goal of $30,000.00.
In 2021, ride virtually through the month of June or join us for a socially distanced ride on Saturday June 26. By setting up a fundraising page, you can help raise funds for CVIM by challenging yourself virtually or riding one of our scenic routes. More information is coming soon!
