Battle of the Minds
In 2007, the State College Rotary Club combined with CVIM on the Thanks for Giving fundraiser to benefit CVIM. This led to the “Battle of the Minds“, our signature annual event. Normally, this event includes a formal dinner followed by a professionally-produced trivia game with questions such as “What is TV’s most frequent Final Jeopardy category question?” and “How many prescriptions did CVIM write over the past year?”
Because of the need for social distancing last year, the 13th annual Battle of the Minds was an online streaming event. Our guest emcee Jeff Brown and Director of Development, Monica Wright provided our guests with an interactive and entertaining evening of trivia. While we missed the live event that averages 370 attendees at tables of 10 competing for the win, the virtual event allowed smaller groups or individuals to play from the comfort of their own homes.
Next year’s event will be held on Wednesday, October 13, 2021. Hopefully, at least a portion of this event will be held in person. For more information about the event and sponsoring opportunities, contact Katie at email@example.com.
Centre County Cornhole Classic
Thanks to all who participated in and donated to the Centre County Cornhole Classic on May 15. Also known as “Corn Toss” and “Bean Bag Toss,” Cornhole is similar to horseshoes, except wooden boxes (cornhole platforms) and corn bags are used. The event was open to all ages and skill levels. Hosted by SiloTek Corporation, this years Cornhole Classic was held at the University Wine Company.
Central Cycling Classic Challenge
The Central Cycling Classic Challenge, sponsored by Mount Nittany Health and in its 13th year during 2021, has raised over $280,000 for CVIM patients. This event went live and virtual this year. Individuals could register their ride and complete it anytime in the month of June at their own pace, or they could join-in on Saturday June 26th for one of three a socially-distanced bike rides:
