Donor Campaigns & Special Events
Centre Volunteers in Medicine is supported by the community through annual campaigns and special events.
Marathoners for Medicine
In 2002, John Domico ran the Boston Marathon on behalf of CVIM raising $3,500. A year later, seven runners going to Boston joined John's fundraising efforts. In 2014, the Marathoners for Medicine team was selected as a local hero/heroine winner of the Central PA Arts Festival.
Last year 26 runners participated in marathons throughout the United State. Individuals took their love of running to new levels, exceeding their fund-raising goal of $46,000. To date, our marathoners have raised over $720,000 for patient care.
Consider making a donation to a 2020 marathoner team or to an individual runner.

Also known as "Corn Toss" and "Bean Bag Toss," Cornhole is similar to horseshoes, except wooden boxes (cornhole platforms) and corn bags are used. The tournament is open to all ages and skill levels.
Registration and sponsorship opportunities are now open for the 2020 event to be held on April 25. This year the Cornhole Classic is presented by SilicoTek Corporation.
Richard M. Madore Dental Clinic Campaign
There are currently over 1,000 individuals on the waiting list for the Dr. Richard M. Madore Dental Clinic at CVIM. It’s a little-known fact that dental disease and poor dental health can cause major complications and illness, even death. Early diagnosis, preventative treatment, and early intervention can prevent or halt the progress of oral disease.
The Dental Clinic honors the spirit and legacy of Dr. Madore’s dedication to giving back to his community. Typical of the impact of the Dental Clinic has on our community, one of our patients writes:

In 2007, the State College Rotary Club combined with CVIM on the Thanks for Giving fundraiser to benefit CVIM. This led to the “Battle of the Minds“, our signature annual event. The 12th Annual Battle of the Minds dinner was held at the Penn Stater on October 16, 2019 . During the a delectable dinner over 40 table teams were challenged by trivia questions, such as “What is TV’s most frequent Final Jeopardy category question?” and “How many prescriptions did CVIM write over the past year?”
Vital to the success of last years Battle of the Minds was the leadership of Rotarian Ed Lash, who chaired the event planning committee, and CVIM Development Director Sue Forster, who provided publicity and administrative support.
THANK YOU 2019 BATTLE OF THE MINDS ATTENDEES! The 2020 event will be held on October 21st

First run in 1984, the Nittany Valley Half-Marathon has since blossomed into one of the region’s most popular road races, drawing over 720 runners/walkers in 2018. The 13.1 mile course begins & ends on the Penn State campus, touring through rolling countryside, along scenic Spring Creek and through quaint Houserville. New for 2018 was the option to complete the half-marathon as a walker!
The Nittany Valley Half-Marathon is proud to support Centre Volunteers in Medicine. The 2020 event will be held on December 6.
Friends & Family Campaign
For the last 17 years, because of their belief in what we do, Lance and Ellen Shaner, have matched $50,000 for individual donations to the Friends and Family campaign. Lance was inspired to make their initial gift by a six-year-old CVIM patient who asked his friends for donations to CVIM instead of birthday gifts.
100% of funds raised in this campaign remain in Centre County to provide medical and dental care, case management, and medication assistance for CVIM patients.
As you shop on Amazon throughout the year, you can designate 0.5% of the price of your eligible purchases be donated to CVIM. Simply enter the Amazon website through the AmazonSmile webpage.
