Continuing Treatment of Patients During the COVID-19 Pandemic

CVIM is proud to have stayed open to care for our patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. We continue to remain agile to meet the changing needs of our community and have adapted our procedures to follow recommendations of the CDC and Government officials.

CVIM Procedures During the COVID-19 Outbreak

Testing of our patients for Corona Virus is not currently available at CVIM.  The recommendation for people with mild respiratory illness is to remain at home unless they are having difficulty breathing or serious symptoms requiring possible hospitalization.

PATIENTS WHO HAVE HAD A FEVER, COUGH, ANY RESPIRATORY SYMPTOMS, HAVE TRAVELED INTERNATIONALLY OR DOMESTICALLY IN THE LAST 14 DAYS, OR HAVE HAD POSSIBLE CONTACT WITH A PERSON WITH CONFIRMED COVID-19, MUST RESCHEDULE ANY CVIM APPOINTMENTS THEY HAVE MADE.

During this especially difficult time, we hope our supporters will continue to do their part by making financial contributions or gift-in-kind donations such as PPE supplies to help your uninsured friends and neighbors of Centre County.

CVIM Vision:  All those who live and work in Centre County will have access to quality health care.

Richard M. Madore Dental Clinic Campaign

There are currently over 1,000 individuals on the waiting list for the Dr. Richard M. Madore Dental Clinic at CVIM. It’s a little-known fact that dental disease and poor dental health can cause major complications and illness, even death. Early diagnosis, preventative treatment, and early intervention can prevent or halt the progress of  oral disease.

The Dental Clinic honors the spirit and legacy of Dr. Madore’s dedication to giving back to his community.  Consider continuing this legacy by giving the Gift of Dental Health.

Centre Volunteers in Medicine (CVIM) has recently assumed the responsibilities of the Centre County Breast Cancer Coalition (CCBCC) and services will continue for free mammograms and other screenings for individuals living and working in Centre County.  Our breast care coalition is a collaboration among agencies, organizations and private citizens in the community helping to overcome barriers to obtain effective and affordable breast care services.      Read more—->

Run for CVIM Challenge
March 15, 2021  Kickoff

In 2002, John Domico ran the Boston Marathon on behalf of CVIM raising $3,500.  A year later, seven runners going to Boston joined John’s fundraising efforts. To date, our marathoners have raised over $720,000 for patient care.  The Run for CVIM Challenge sponsored by Mount Nittany Health will begin this year on March 15.

In order to enable as many people as possible to participate this year and allow maximum flexibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are offering three options:

1) Pick a race (traditional or virtual) on any date this year and run for CVIM.
2) Create your own solo running event and take a “runfie” photo to document your run.
3) Participate in a “Run for Medicine Relay” at Spring Creek Canyon with two one-mile legs and two three-mile legs (date to be determined).

Sign up to run or sponsor a runner in support of CVIM.  Social distancing guidelines will be respected.

9am  May 11 – 9 pm May 12

The tournament is open to all ages and skill levels.

Cost is $80 for a team of two or $40 for an Individual (we’ll assign you a partner at the event).  Proceeds from the Cornhole benefits Centre Volunteers in Medicine.  This year the event will be held at the University Wine Company, 540 Misty Hill Drive, State College (off of Route 45).  All COVID guidelines will be strictly followed.
