Who was Joseph Faulkner?
The late Reverend Dr. Joseph Faulkner, Sr., and a small group of concerned community members determined that the Centre Region needed a free medical clinic after observing many friends and neighbors going without medical and dental care. To gather information, Joe toured the first Volunteers in Medicine (VIM) clinic in Hilton Head, South Carolina, to address this need. The VIM model centers around professional doctors and nurses donating their time to the clinic to care for local, uninsured individuals with a "culture of caring" philosophy. Joe's sermon in February 2000 inspired hundreds to band together to open the CVIM clinic to serve Centre County. We are honored to continue his legacy through the Faulkner Society.
What is the Faulkner Society?
The Faulkner Society was created in honor of Joseph Faulkner and his belief in the need for long-term funding for Centre Volunteers in Medicine (CVIM). The society is an opportunity for individuals who want to make a lasting impact in Centre County to commit to giving a planned estate gift to CVIM to support its mission of providing quality healthcare to uninsured and underinsured individuals in the community.
